Technological advances have revolutionised dating experiences and sex lives too: apps, sexting , sex over FaceTime, and, of course, the big one. High-spec cameras, filtering and high-speed internet connections mean you can have the idea, whip it or them out, take the snap and send with barely a moment's thought. But why the change? Is this purely a generational thing? The rules around sending nudes seem fairly simple, but boundaries are overstepped constantly — usually by men. I never send them under those circumstances.

Creating nudes and sharing them seems to be part of human nature. A collection of poems, stories and memoir on the subject, it takes a long hard look at the contemporary — and seemingly timeless — habit of sharing images of the naked human form. The idea came to editor Julianne Ingles after a short story entitled Send Nudes was submitted for a previous anthology she was working on. For 20 years now, New York-based photographer Spencer Tunick has been creating human art installations all over the world, calling together volunteers by the hundreds or thousands, asking them to remove their clothes, and photographing them in massive groups. His philosophy is that "individuals en masse, without their clothing, grouped together, metamorphose into a new shape.
